Hi, we're the Periodic Travelers

Our family of five standing on the grass by the water at sunset in Virginia

We're Michael and Chantelle, plus our boys Everett andFinn, our baby girl Vienna, and a very fluffy puppy named Puddles. Michael serves in the Navy and Chantelle is a nurse. The name says it all: we travel in periods. Every few years the Navy hands us new orders, and we pack up the whole house and start over somewhere new.

So far that's meant Utah in 2014, Hawaii in 2019, South Carolina in 2021, and Virginia since 2023. In between, we've traveled from Cancun to Ghana, Sierra Leone, Iceland, and across Europe.

Why we started this blog

Every time we got orders, we went looking for a family who had actually lived there. We didn't want a weekend visitor. We wanted someone who knew which neighborhoods work with kids, which beaches are worth the drive, and what to do on a rainy Saturday. This blog is that, for every place we've lived.
